Info Post
Though I'm a self-proclaimed color fiend, there's really nothing I love more than a fantastic print. If you add this to my unabashed passion for the crowd of young British designers, it is more than apparent that I would love a collection by Hermione de Paula.
de Paula's eponymous ready to wear label launched in 2008, following an impressive resume of experience at Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior Couture, and John Galliano, to name a few. The Central St. Martins graduate is heralded for her signature takes on floral prints, combining quirky femininity with an underlying layer of sexually charged energy. Blending craftsmanship with fantasy, each of de Paula's collections encompasses strong silhouettes combined with soft but edgy print and texture, resulting in fantastical designs that seem to be straight out of a romantic yet twisted fairytale. Certainly de Paula's woman has a strong sense of self: she flirts with fashion, manipulating pieces of refined luxury to embody a multidimensional personality.

The autumn/winter collection for the coming season is entitled Marguerite's Menagerie, in which "here nothing is quite as it seems, a flower is not just a flower." The playfulness of the designs does not fail to embody mystery, because the epitome of de Paula's genius can be found in the depth of the character she has created. The collection is a certain success, but the stand-out of the range is a blouse of tropically inspired flora set against a light sky blue background, the color of which could find a fitting home in an underwater fantasy.
