Info Post
Diane Von Furstenberg really has a thing for color. DVF's Fall 2012 collection was a mixture of reds and pinks à la Valentine's Day, graphic black and white prints (including a feisty hand print, which has also been spotted elsewhere), and bursts of exciting color blocking. It can't be denied that DVF stayed true to her brand's DNA with elegant silhouettes and fun prints, but the collection seemed somewhat sporadic. There seemed to be a lot going on and a lack of consistency throughout the collection. A collection should have a uniting theme that is more than just a broad sense of the clothing (i.e. glamourous, seductive). I felt like this is what this collection really needed, because it felt like samples from a couple of different collections combined. Really, though, that's the only complaint I have. The clothing was beautifully executed, from structured outerwear to ankle-length dresses in bright hues. These looks are perfect for the modern day working woman who isn't afraid to have fun with her fashions.

The brightest looks of these collection were the epitome of color blocking perfection. Whether it be the masterpiece of a dark lime green with magenta trousers or an aqua strapless dress paired with a hot pink clutch, Von Furstenberg knows how to do this trend right. Though the color blocking trend seems to be dying out in favor of the more subtly colored prints seen on the Fall 2012 runways so far, it seems like there will always be the brave few who keep it living.
My only wish is that the entire collection consist of such ingenious colorful designs. The materials and silhouettes help keep the colors grounded in the fall season, but out of every look it is these color blocked looks that remain with me.

You can view the entire collection here. If you haven't already, I'd love for you to take a peek and let me know what you think of the burst of color at the end of show. Does it belong or should it have been left out? Does it steal the show or confuse it? I'd love to hear your responses.

xoxo
