Be My Valentine

Since I feel obligated to post something that is at least somewhat related to Valentine's Day, I've written a quick note on the two colors the holiday is known for: red and pink.

Combining red and pink in an outfit has long been considered a fashion "don't," but if there's one trend that has persisted throughout the last few years it is that of breaking the so-called fashion rules. This particular color duo has experienced a recent resurgence, as proven by an explosion of street style photographs (see above) as well as the runway shows themselves (see Prabal Gurung Fall 2011 RTW).

Whatever you're wearing on Valentine's Day, make sure that it makes you feel good. Valentine's Day is popularly the day of lovey-dovey romance, but I believe that February 14th is about making others happy - and don't forget to do something nice for yourself.
