Info Post
To celebrate the first legitimately warm day in what seems like a very long time, I wanted to do a summery topic.
In the last year, one of my discoveries has been the joys of crop tops, especially for a petite like me. Though I'm sure tall girls out there become very upset when they see cute tops in cropped shapes, it makes me extremely happy. Though some cropped tops go crop-happy and barely reach my bellybutton, due to my petite frame, I find that most crop tops will reach a bit below the waist of my jeans. This fit enables me to go without a tank top underneath said crop tops, and as an extra bonus, the small top makes me look taller.
For this reason, I love to buy crop tops. Many shirts are way too long on me, and I end up drowning in them. With crop top, I don't have to worry about that problem!

The top above inspired this post, as I am wearing it at this very moment. It's one of my favorite crop tops because it adds sophistication to any casual day look and can also be worn for a dressier occasion, like going out to dinner. I bought this on my trip to Australia over my winter break. It's from a store called Sportsgirl, which is an Australian chain that I found in Sydney.
This top is exactly the right length to wear with jeans or denim shorts without worrying about my tummy peeking out all the time. (Although this is a problem whenever I raise my arms.)

This is my most recent purchase, an old H&M crop top that I found at a vintage store for 5 dollars. The print is even more vibrant in real life and the material is so soft. This top hits me at the same spot that the Sportsgirl top does, making it extremely wearable for me.

If you love crop tops or have taken a liking to them and want to find some because of this post, Topshop is a great resource. The store is always chock-full of them and there is always a lot of variety: you can find prints, fringe, lace, and pretty much anything else that you can imagine. The items that Topshop carries during the spring and summer are also full of beautiful colors, which is especially wonderful for me. (Their fall and winter products tend to be brown, black, mustard yellow, and rust red.)
Topshop's only United States store is in New York City's Soho, but they can also be found all over the world, not just in England. However, Topshop does ship to all 50 states.

If you are searching the Topshop website for crop tops, I recommend searching "crop" because items go under different names than Americans are used to. (Tank tops, for example, are vests.)
Also, please note that some website items may not be available in your local Topshop store. The store sells out of things very quickly.

I recommend wearing your crop tops with high-waisted skirts, pants, or shorts, which is always fail-proof. If you want to be adventurous, you can try layering them over tank tops and such, but personally I always find this to end up with disastrous results. (Except, obviously, if the top is see-through, in which case I always put something underneath.)
If you are like me, and you have a very petite frame, then lucky you! You will also be able to find some wonderful crop tops that don't require extra layers and can be worn with bottoms that have a normal rise.

Some people who aren't petite assume that they just can't wear crop tops, but this is definitely not the case! I encourage you to give it a try.

xoxo
