I discovered Paul and Joe Sister on my trip to Paris last year (2010) and have been in love ever since.
Paul and Joe Sister is a classic, feminine line full of chic French looks. (Despite the name, the brand is, in fact, French.) The line is the little sister of Paul and Joe, which has the same overall vibe. The difference is mainly that Paul and Joe Sister tends to be cuter and more fun, while maintaining that sophisticated air that the entire brand has.

From far away, this beautiful dress appears to be printed with a floral pattern or maybe just blue and black specks of color. On closer inspection, however, one discovers that the dress actually is printed with a crowd of butterflies! I love this kind of optical illusion. The shade of blue incorporated is also fantastic; blue is my favorite color.

In many cases, a dress with this sort of graphic print would look cheesy or just plain silly. However, Paul and Joe Sister's genius with such designs prevents this garment from even coming close. The line is so good with graphics, incorporating them in clever and beautiful ways that look cute but never childish. This dress is so cheerful and the magenta and mint green colors are gorgeous, especially when put together (an unexpected combination that works well). This dress would be beautiful at a garden party in the spring or summer.
Thesee
This cotton blouse is a vibrant, rich red color that contains hints of pink and orange. The shape and details are beautiful, calling to mind elements of lingerie. The top would be beautiful worn under a blazer to work or casually on the weekend with a great pair of shorts or pants, like the ones above. The blouse can also be dressed up with a silk skirt and tights.
The styling in the picture above is ingenious. The floral print on the pants are perfect for the blouse, the tone of which is reminiscent of a freshly picked flower.

This printed t-shirt is very typical of Paul and Joe Sister, which sells a lot of cute printed apparel. The print may seem childish to some, but the watercolor style and the sophisticated appearance of the top from far away keeps the shirt fresh and modern. Whimsical and cute sure, but this shirt would look good on almost any young woman.
One element of this piece that I really like is the manner in which the colors are slightly faded, giving them more of a painted feel. This keeps up with the watercolor theme.

Shop the line on Net-A-Porter, the OutNet, ASOS, and tobi.
