Anrealage is no stranger to innovation. The brand first enticed me with its pixel-inspired A/W 2011 collection, a shocking view into a futuristic avant-garde fashion world.

Designer Kunihiko Morinaga's mastery comes in his ability to relay unique fashion through a relevant lens. Whereas the couture-esque creations of some designers are lost in translation, Anrealage presents a modern view of clothing that is impressive not solely in message but in its own right. The threads of each collection are clear and consistent; art and fashion meet each other halfway.

Shown at Tokyo Fashion Week, the jaw-dropping Spring 2013 collection is inciting a buzz. The contrast between dark and light reigns each look: laser-cut garments and structural silhouettes that glow in the dark, strutting through darkness and topped by space-age headpieces of equal panache. Although many may agree that fashion has tired of neon, Morinaga sheds new light (there's some subtle wit for you) on the color palette with a Day-Glo rendering that would appear quite at home at MoMA or the Tate Modern. It's a use of fashion and runway shows that has never been seen: this, in and of itself, is an accomplishment of great magnitude.

Warm wishes to those here on the East Coast who have been affected by the hurricane. I just regained power, but perhaps Anrealage would like to send over some samples for those who are still in the dark.
