Now it's time to take some risks and stop playing it safe.
Today I wanted to feature one of my newest acquisitions: a hot pink, Italian leather bag. The bag was a gift to me, and when I first saw it I questioned what in the world I would wear it with. My next thought was that I was completely up to the challenge. An item like this bag is unusual, eye-catching, and surprisingly versatile. It spices up any outfit, taking the boring and turning it into fabulousness.
Vera Pelle leather bag
Paul & Joe Sister t-shirt, Topshop shorts.
Below are three different outfit ideas you can use with a bright bag.
The simple way:
A neutral outfit provides a blank slate for a bag bursting with color. Shoes in an earthy shade keep the look grounded, so it doesn't look cheesy.Color blocking:
Topshop dress, K Jacques sandals, Mulberry bangles.
This outfit is an easy example of color blocking. Orange and pink complement each other beautifully. Sophisticated sandals and jewelry give the look grown-up edge.
Artsy:
H&M tank top, Topshop high-waisted shorts, Forever 21 oxfords, friendship bracelets by (from top to bottom) Ettika, Wet Seal, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Scosha.
This look has casual, indie flair that calls to mind the vibe of an Urban Outfitters catalog. Friendship bracelets are a creative and colorful touch that serve as a transition from the neutral outfit to the bright bag. The focus should be on the bag, so the outfit is plain but definitely not boring.
Any bright bag would go perfectly with these three outfits - not just my hot pink possession. I encourage you to make the leap and carry a colorful handbag. You will be pleased with your successful risk-taking.
xoxo
