Founder Michelle Weisman came from a creative family, thus her parents were greatly supportive of her dream of entering the world of fashion. She attended the Pratt institute and has worked for Mint by Jodi Arnold and Shoshanna, where she worked as head designer.
Launched in May 2010, 81Poppies is "a study in contrast" that is inspired by the modern, feminine woman; vintage prints; and classic menswear. The clothes are designed to enhance the wearer's self-confidence.

My favorite part about this collection is how easily each piece can transition into everyday life. The colors are bold but not so daring that they scare prospective wearers away. Patterns are chic, elegant, and modernized takes on classic femininity. The garments are versatile, with the ability to be dressed down or dressed up depending on the occasion.
