Info Post
Frédérique Trou-Roy founded Manoush after visiting Morocco in 2002, a French brand with a bohemian, gypsy vibe that has the sophistication of couture fashion. The inspiration is apparent in the designs: a common detail in the collections is the hand of Fatima, also known as the hamsa, which is an Arabic amulet commonly seen throughout the Middle-East and North Africa as a defense against the superstition of the evil eye. The symbol is said to represent power and strength and is often used as a protective amulet. The collection seems to draw from many different cultures: the use of color seems reminiscent of combinations of different Middle-Eastern cultures and certain floral patterns are similar to Mexican and Spanish styles; the poofy party dress silhouettes seem like sophisticated quinceanera dresses.
Besides the different cultural influences, the designs have a Betsey Johnson feel, in that they are playful, wild, colorful and ready to party while maintaining that grown-up vibe. However, while Betsey Johnson seems so American, Manoush is a well-rounded brand that draws from all parts of the world to create collections that are truly stunning.

Unfortunately, the current Manoush collection that is in stores in France is not (yet) available to buy in the United States, but items from past collections can be found on The OutNet and Yoox.

To see the current collection you can visit the Manoush website.
